South End Neighborhood Housing Initiative is established.

June 28, 1986

Created by the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the SENHI program is an attempt to support construction of some 700 units of housing on some 70 parcels of BRA-owned land left over from the South End Urban Renewal Plan. One third of the units are to be affordable to low-income residents, one third to middle-income families, and one third at market rate. Subsequent residential developments built under the plan by community development corporations include Langham Court and Parmalee Court.
